General Role Description

Define, develop, and manage the execution of the technology organization’s product development plans to enable achievement of the Mid-Range Plan objectives

Role Accountabilities

-   Design and staff an organizational structure that can effectively ensure successful product development execution

-   Allocate resources within the context of the organization and the Company’s strategic direction and economic health to ensure alignment with business unit and company priorities for project execution

-   Diagnose gaps between the organization’s current and desired project performance and deploy strategies to resolve

-   Monitor and identify emerging technologies with potential for product development; recommend, develop, and implement appropriate strategies to develop these products

-   Develop relationships with internal and external clients and suppliers, domestically and internationally, to secure resources and deliver effective solutions which meet client contractual commitments and business goals

-   Ensure effective engineering and project management cost estimates for evaluations of potential new development projects

-   Ensure commissioning processes and mechanisms for new products are designed to deliver commitments and continuously improve site operations, consulting with clients and BU engineers to confirm acceptance

-   Ensure BU and client issues related to new product introductions are resolved, at client sites if necessary, coordinating with appropriate personnel, escalating as appropriate

-   Provide Company and parent company executives with timely updates on project status

-   Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and good practice, through on-site review

Manager-Once-Removed Accountabilities

-   Ensure effective leadership and fair and just treatment for their direct reports once removed

-   Ensure talent pool development at the direct report once removed level

Minimum Qualifications

-   Bachelor of science degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer engineering or related engineering or technical discipline, or equivalent via education and/or work experience

-   7 years of technical product development project leadership or technical management experience in any combination of power electronics and tools, and controls in an industry related to the Company’s served industries

-   Demonstrated success leading high-performance engineering teams in a technical, project-based metal, material handling, renewable energy systems, paper, or related general industries business

-   Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts

-   Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills

-   Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility

-   Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and an ERP business system

-   Demonstrated experience with patents and intellectual property matters

-   Availability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 15%, sometimes with limited notice

Preferred Qualifications

-   MS or PhD degree in electrical, electronic, or mechanical engineering or related engineering or technical discipline

-     Demonstrated experience with a foreign owned business , preferably Japanese
