Sanctions Screening Lead

About the Role

The Sanctions Screening Lead, reporting to the Global Sanctions Screening Manager, oversees alert disambiguation and ensures accurate identification, resolution and escalation of potential matches in line with our enhanced risk-based sanctions screening program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Global Sanctions Manager and manage end-to-end alert disambiguation by assessing name variants, aliases, transliterations, fuzzy matches, company structures, ultimate beneficial ownership, and contextual data to accurately differentiate between false positives and actual matches.
  • Conduct peer reviews, regular sample testing, and maintain evidence such as case files, notes, and exceptions to satisfy internal controls and external audit requirements.
  • Track and report key metrics including case aging, resolution time, false positive rates, escalation counts, and re-screening intervals, while leading remediation efforts if targets are not reached.
  • Support the Sanctions Center of Excellence (CoE) with screening solutions, covering activities such as system tuning, data quality management, and health checks.

Minimum qualifications

  • University degree and fluent in written and spoken English.
  • 3+ years’ screening experience with expertise in alert disambiguation and case documentation.
  • Working knowledge of OFSI/OFAC/EU/UN regimes, list management, and beneficial ownership principles; familiarity with sectoral and jurisdictional nuances.
  • Proficiency with industry screening tools (e.g., Dow Jones, FircoSoft) and case‑management workflows; comfortable with list updates and tuning.
  • Strong judgment for materiality & escalation, and clear, defensible writing for audit trails and governance review.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with automation or analytics to reduce false positives and improve throughput; exposure to large master‑data environments.
