Capital Procurement Category Manager – New Plant Construction

Location: Anderson, SC (Primary) + Defiance, OH (Project Site)

Travel: Up to 20% (increasing during construction phase)

Overview

We are seeking a Capital Procurement Category Manager to lead procurement and sourcing activities for a major greenfield manufacturing plant build in Defiance, Ohio. This role will play a critical part in managing construction-related spend, supporting capital project execution, and ensuring cost, quality, and timeline objectives are met.

This is a high-impact, project-driven role with visibility across Engineering, Operations, and Executive Leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Procurement & Sourcing

  • Lead all procurement activities related to construction and capital projects (CAPEX) for a new plant build
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for construction services, equipment, and materials
  • Manage supplier selection, RFQs/RFPs, and contract negotiations

Project Execution

  • Support capital projects from planning through execution and completion
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams to align procurement with project timelines
  • Ensure on-time delivery of materials and services to support construction milestones

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements to drive cost savings and value
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues impacting project delivery

Financial & Data Analysis

  • Analyze spend, market trends, and cost drivers to inform sourcing decisions
  • Track budgets and ensure alignment with CAPEX targets
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional project teams and influence stakeholders
  • Coach, mentor, and support team members as needed
  • Drive accountability and performance across procurement activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field)
  • Strong experience in procurement/sourcing within manufacturing environmentsConsumer products or high-speed manufacturing preferred
  • Proven experience in construction procurement and capital projects (CAPEX)
  • Experience supporting plant builds, expansions, or large-scale projects
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (formal or informal team leadership)
