We have a unique opportunity for a credentialed nurse who can support our specialty specialty surgeons in providing surgical care to our patients. We are equipped to support a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, and we are always expanding our inventory of cutting edge equipment based on patient needs and surgeon training. 

Responsibilities:

• Assist in surgeries, procedures, and appointments.
• Communicate with clients and team members (verbally and written).
• Assist in the development and implementation of surgical protocols.
• Perform anesthesia/sedation on surgical patients.
• Process lab samples and perform patient treatments/diagnostics.
• Assist with maintaining stock and ordering supplies
• Knowledge of varying sterilization techniques and autoclave operation.
• Ensure the availability and sterility of instrumentation.
• Knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and supplies including name, location, and application.
• Effectively coordinate Surgery Service appointment schedule with anticipation of change.
• Maintain a calm demeanor and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to interpret and execute treatment directives given by veterinarian
• Will be required to operate and/or monitor Heska and syringe pumps, Cardell blood pressure monitors, Doppler monitors and blood gas machines
• Required to update patient records and monitor patient activity 
• Participate in the training of new employees and volunteers

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1-2 years in veterinary medicine required
• 1-2 years of surgery/anesthesia experience preferred
• Must have a New York State Veterinary Technician’s license or permit
• Must have animal handling experience 
• Able to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds
• Proficiency in surgical instrument handling and care.
• Strong understanding of anesthesia monitoring and administration
• Basic knowledge of surgical techniques and protocols
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-stress environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Pay Range:

$30—$40 USD. Exact pay will be dependent on the candidate’s skills, location and experience level.
