Senior Enrollment and Billing Specialist (Internal Only)

The Senior Enrollment and Billing Specialist performs a variety of general accounting and eligibility duties including reconciling eligibility for select employer groups according to group contracts and underwriting guidelines, reconciling payment and billing for both groups and individuals, and providing excellent customer service.   The Senior Enrollment and Billing Specialist will also provide guidance and support to other Enrollment and Billing Specialists and assist in training new team members.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Serve as a liaison with subscribers, groups, and agencies to answer eligibility, benefit, payment, and contract questions. 
  • Reconcile eligibility and enroll or terminate subscribers and dependents according to group contracts and underwriting guidelines and for the individual plan. 
  • Reconcile daily receipts and research variances. 
  • Apply receipts to outstanding invoices. 
  • Import electronic enrollment file and distribute discrepancy report to groups. 
  • Perform COBRA administration for designated groups according to federal regulations. 
  • Convert Excel electronic enrollment files and train other team members on the process. 
  • Provide support to other team members in the absence of supervisor or manager. 
  • Assist in training new members of the team. 
  • Liaison for IT for Eligibility projects and testing. 
  • Perform testing and support for IT changes. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping. 
  • Competency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload – independently or as part of a team. 
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to understand benefits and contract provisions. 
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Insurance industry experience preferred.  
  • IT testing skills preferred.

  • Sitting/Standing (alternatively) continuously 
  • Keyboard Use/Repetitive Hand motion continuously 
  • Skill/ability related to comprehension, organization, reasoning/decision-making and communication appropriate to position/level
