Job Description

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role ensures safe, efficient machining operations and contributes to continuous improvement in production processes.  This role plays a crucial part in ensuring our custom-made parts are ready for the production floor at the highest quality, while maintaining the safety and quality standards upheld by company procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, or other machining centers.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, etc.).
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues.
  • Optimize machining operations for efficiency, quality, and tool life.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Document production information and complete required paperwork or digital entries.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, Technical School certificate, or related work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years experience operating manual lathes and manual mills
  • Minimum 10 years experience operating CNC lathes and CNC mills
  • 10+ years of hand programming using G-code and M-code
  • Proven ability to perform setups, tooling changes, and machine adjustments
  • Strong understanding of machining tolerances, speeds, and feeds
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Strong attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
