The Union CounôÙty SuperôÙviôÙsor of AssessôÙments overôÙsees real propôÙerôÙty assessôÙment process through the CounôÙty, ensurôÙing impleôÙmenôÙtaôÙtion withôÙin the law that was enactôÙed by the IlliôÙnois GenôÙerôÙal AssemôÙbly and Court deciôÙsions. The SuperôÙviôÙsor of AssessôÙments mainôÙtains tax maps, propôÙerôÙty record cards, exempôÙtion cerôÙtifiôÙcates and keeps a curôÙrent list of propôÙerôÙty ownôÙers. The SuperôÙviôÙsor of AssessôÙments sends notice of assessôÙment changes to taxôÙpayôÙers and pubôÙlishôÙes the assessôÙments in the newsôÙpaôÙpers. The SuperôÙviôÙsor of AssessôÙments works under the direcôÙtives of the DepartôÙment of RevôÙenue and proôÙvides them with inforôÙmaôÙtion. The SuperôÙviôÙsor of AssessôÙments serves as the Clerk of the CounôÙty Board of Review to ensure Board of Review actions, deciôÙsions, notices, pubôÙliôÙcaôÙtions and comôÙplaints are processed in a timeôÙly manôÙner and have met the statuôÙtoôÙry requireôÙments.
Identify property and assessments for all taxable and nontaxable parcels of real estate in Union County
Update and maintain property record cards for all taxable and nontaxable parcels of real estate in Union County
Update and maintain information on mobile homes which are taxed under the Mobile Home Local Services Act (Privilege Tax)
Assist the general public with assessment issues, property tax questions, exemption applications, etc.
High school diploma or associates degree in related field
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to learn various software packages in the Assessment Office
Ability to read legal descriptions
Ability to work with the public in a professional manner
Ability to operate county vehicle in order to obtain property information
Must have a valid Illinois driver's license
Common construction knowledge preferred
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
$17.52 an hour with 4% increase negotiated for the 4 years
Longevity bonus based on years of service:
35 hour work week; Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (1 hour unpaid lunch)
FLSA STATUS: Non exempt
