Responsibilities
The Inventory Specialist is a critical member of the operations team, responsible for ensuring accurate inventory management, efficient material flow, and data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced warehouse environment. This role involves conducting inventory counts, analyzing discrepancies, generating detailed reports, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory processes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking, with strong analytical skills and proficiency in advanced tools like Microsoft Excel and SAP. The Inventory Specialist will play a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy at a minimum of 95% and driving continuous improvements to support operational efficiency.
- Participate in scheduled inventory counts to verify stock levels and ensure accuracy.
- Conduct physical counts of materials and products, cross-referencing with system records to identify discrepancies.
- Perform root cause analysis to investigate inventory inaccuracies, such as miscounts, data entry errors, or process failures, and document findings in detailed reports.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address identified issues, ensuring long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex formulas, and data sorting) to analyze inventory data and generate actionable insights.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for production related to inventory accuracy, and material availability.
- Collaborate with production planners, and leadership to streamline inventory tracking and management processes.
- Assist in resolving material transfer issues to and from other warehouses, ensuring seamless movement of goods and accurate system updates.
- Maintain a minimum inventory accuracy rate of 95% through diligent tracking, auditing, and process adherence.
- Assist in material handling tasks, including lifting items weighing up to 30-35 pounds, while adhering to proper safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in SAP to reflect real-time inventory status and support operational decision-making.
- Assist in receiving and put away process for incoming material
- Assist in transfers to and from production area
- Breakdown boxes and pallets as necessary to fit shelving
Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and SAP to manage inventory records, process transactions, and generate reports.
- Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and perform root cause analysis to resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory tracking software is a plus.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory records and reporting.
- Strong multitasking abilities to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration with team members, production staff, and leadership.
Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, or a similar role preferred.
- Prior experience with SAP or ERP systems and advanced Excel functions is highly desirable.
