For more than 70 years, Mercy Medical Center Redding has offered comprehensive health care in the North State, providing acute care and a full range of medical services. Job Summary and Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of a staff nurse, the incumbent is responsible for assisting the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures. The incumbent maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field. In addition, the incumbent will serve as the scrub for all surgical cases in the department.

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process. To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:

• One year recent experience in the acute care arena as operating room scrub tech and/or combination of recent education, certification and experience required
• Two years Cardiac Surgery experience required if working in CSOR
• General understanding of anatomy, physiology and sterile and surgical techniques.

PREFERRED:

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology
• Two years recent OR experience with Redding area surgeons procedures
