Position Summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a visionary and execution-focused leader to serve as Vice President of Global Business Services (GBS). This role will be responsible for designing, scaling, and leading a global GBS organization that delivers high-quality, connected services that simplify work, reduce cost and elevate customer experience across Finance, HR, IT, Engineering, Procurement, and Customer Support.

The VP will evolve the maturity of shared services into a GBS model, establish Service Quality standards and SLAs, lead end to end process and performance management governance, and build a high-performance global team of ~7000 FTEs.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the GBS strategy aligned with Johnson Controls’ enterprise goals.

  • Establish shared objectives, accountability, and buy-in across the C-suite, BU executive leaders and regional stakeholders to ensure alignment and adoption of GBS initiatives.

  • Championing strong understanding and change management as the GBS strategy is executed.

  • Lead the transition from decentralized shared services to a standardized, automated GBS model.

  • Champion a “North Star” GBS operating model with global service delivery ownership and regional flexibility.

  • Serve as the executive sponsor for GBS governance forums and transformation programs.

Operational Excellence

  • Establish a Global Process Owner structure as part of GBS that defines, optimizes, and governs E2E processes that are aligned to the GBS scope to enable efficiency, standardization, service standards, and better customer experience

  • Oversee end-to-end service delivery across value streams (OTC, PTP, RTR, CTS).

  • Drive process standardization, simplification, and automation using AI, GenAI, and RPA.

  • Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and financial performance metrics to ensure service quality and cost efficiency.

Transformation & Innovation

  • Lead the GBS Process Excellence team and Centers of Excellence (CI, Change Management, Automation, Data).

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and digital enablement across service lines.

  • Select and manage 3rd Party BPO and Service Providers, where outsourcing is determined to be an optimal solution.

Talent & Organizational Development

  • Build and mentor a high-performing global GBS leadership team.

  • Oversee workforce planning, site operations, employee engagement and talent development across delivery centers.

  • Cultivate a strong global culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 15+ years of leadership experience in GBS, shared services, or enterprise transformation.

  • Proven track record of building and scaling GBS organizations across multiple functions, geographies, cultures and languages.

  • Experience leading transformation in matrixed, decentralized environments with strong regional autonomy.

Skills

  • Deep process management expertise in GBS operating models, outsourcing, and automation.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, RPA, AI/GenAI, and digital tools.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management, change leadership, and strategic planning capabilities.

  • Financial acumen and ability to manage large-scale budgets and cost optimization programs.
