KADANT BLACK CLAWSON LLC is an established leader in equipment and systems for the international pulp and paper process industries.  For 150 years, we’ve helped our customers reduce their input costs and improve efficiency through innovative products and technologies.  Our sustainability efforts have been nationally recognized, and Kadant is also listed on the New York Stock Exchange (KAI).  Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in Lebanon, OH, where we design and manufacture our products for customers across the globe.

 

We currently seek to fill the position of Product Data Analytics Manager to lead and support data analytics efforts through customer R&D projects.  Kadant Black Clawson is embarking on a digital transformation process where we will utilize data to inform and assist our pulp and paper customers on system and process optimization services.  Projects will include developing a digital model of our customer’s stock prep pulping loop for improved performance optimization, all while advancing KBC’s mission of being a forward-thinking, collaborative, and ethical business. 

 

Position will work normal office hours (M-F 8-5 or similar schedule). Position will be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office, 2 days remote) after all training has been completed.

Responsibilities

  • Works with contract data analytics firm to complete data models of the pulping loop.
  • Develops presentations, project plans, and meeting minutes for project updates.
  • Drives predictive analytics initiatives to generate new revenue streams.
  • Ensures analytics solutions meet security and compliance standards.
  • Leads the development of dashboards and MTBF analytics for equipment.
  • Cleans data, refines, and builds optimization models.
  • Presents project capabilities to the customer, along with Sales Managers and R&D employees.
  • Collects and analyzes data from the customer’s DCS on the stock prep pulping equipment.
  • Defines project scope to document business and data problems with business and data insights.
  • Develops graphs to help visualize the optimal performance.
  • Manages outside contractors as project needs dictate.
  • Helps integrate AI tools (Enterprise ChatGPT, MS CoPilot) for the organization with IT.
  • Helps document the data science process to be used for on-going customer projects.
  • Researches and reports on data science software, programs, add-ins, or API for evaluation and incorporation into KBC business systems.
  • Leads the digital transformation effort throughout KBC by growing the team and project list. Recruits and on-board interns and data analysts as needed.

  • Project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and exceed customer expectations.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Model (LLM) tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) for automating data analysis, generating insights, and supporting business decision-making is highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Python/ Tableau and background using AI tools for data analysis.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites for meetings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Demonstrates KBC values of personal accountability, discipline, trust, and proactive action.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business analytics or data science from an accredited college or university, or related experience is required.  MS Degree preferred. 
  • The preferred candidate will have recent hands-on design experience and ability to complete data analytics projects. 
  • The preferred candidate will have some manufacturing production engineering experience and detailed user experience of several engineering data and enterprise management software systems.
  •  Minimum 6-10 years’ experience in the data analytics field and minimum 2-4 years’ experience running large projects and/or managing employees.
