Overview
This non-nuclear instructor position is responsible to conduct classroom and hands on training of Electric Boat’s STO new hire employees and general trades people within the shipyard and NRMD. This will include, but not limited to, new hire courses, and general trade skills courses. They will be required to follow approved lesson plans, perform examinations and evaluations of student performance, and provide documentation via written certification or computer database entry. Other duties may include assist curriculum architects with the development of training packages and conducting jobsite training validations.
The primary duties of this position entail:
- Onboarding New Hire STO employees (mechanic/electrician)
- Instructing multiple STO courses in a classroom setting
- Noise reduction, System testing, Precision Measuring, ESD etc.
- Instructing multiple General Trades classroom courses
- Fall Protection, Fire Watch, Tank Watch, Respirator etc.
- Enforcing safety rules and regulations
- Supporting various lesson plan updates and related activities
- Assessing student performance and identifying noncompliance to policies, procedures and technique sheets
- Supporting special training projects as required
- Being available for overtime as needed
Being flexible to support training on all shifts as needed
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to speak in fron tof large groups of people

Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma/GED
- Must be a first class STO mechanic/electrician
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of Shipyard experience.
Preferred:
- Prior classroom/OTJ or ALC Instructor experience
- Certificate, Associates or advanced degree
- Experience in preparation of training materials
- Experience with classroom lectures, hands-on training and associated written and practical exams
- Experience and performance of test procedures and maintenance
