Job Summary and Responsibilities

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is currently seeking a Nutrition Assistant I to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a food service setting and possess a strong work ethic. The Nutrition Assistant I will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

 

  • Uses all equipment correctly and safely: disposal dish machine and steam hose.
  • Follows standardized recipes: proper serving size, ingredients garnish.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes daily tasks to reduce non-essential interruptions to an absolute minimum.
  • Sets up and works efficiently on the tray line as scheduled at the assigned station.
  • Places items on trays accurately according to the patient menu spreadsheet and plating guide.
  • Knows basic food preparation techniques, including receiving, storage, preparation, handling, and utilization of leftovers.
  • Completes cleaning tasks as assigned and maintains a neat and clean workstation.
  • Utilizes stock and foods in proper order according to freshness dates on the product.
  • Stores supplies and food in an appropriate manner.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of recent Food and Nutrition experience in a hospital or related setting.
  • Fire Safety card required within 90 days of hire.

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
