A Brief Overview

RGA’s asset platform is a competitive edge. The SVP, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Investments is a senior leader responsible for the vision and execution of our asset management operating model, strategy, and teams across our platform. This includes policies and end to end processes that support execution excellence and operational scalability of global capabilities that span public and private assets, a range of currencies, and derivatives. This leader reports directly to the EVP, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and is a member of the Investment Leadership Team. This role emphasizes strategic planning and execution, technology and data enablement, operational risk management, process optimization, and leadership across multiple teams. This leader also plays a key role in planning and achieving financial and efficiency goals.  


What you will do

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a strategic and effective leader for Investments, who ensures daily operations meet needs and expectations, implements business strategy, and manages operational infrastructure to ensure efficiency, compliance, and profitability. This role involves optimizing processes, talent, and technology, managing operational risks, and partnering with the CIO to align operational execution with strategic objectives. The COO's responsibilities also extend to managing relationships with key stakeholders within the Investment function and across the organization, and key vendors, related to end-to-end processes, ensuring technology and investment capital for our asset platform are used effectively for growth

  • Strategic Planning & Execution Excellence
    • Drive vision of operational future state, and execution plan, to advance operational model for scalability, speed, and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with CIO and other leaders to develop and implement operational strategies that align with the firm's overall vision and growth objectives.
    • Process Improvement: Identify and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery, potentially leveraging automation and new technologies.
    • Engage cross functionally to pursue enterprise end to end process improvement, alignment, and reduced duplication.

  • Operational Excellence: Deliver Now and Build the Future
    • Responsible for the efficient and effective functioning of the firm's asset management operations.
    • Deliver high accuracy and efficiency in operational processes over life cycle of investments.
    • Manage team through new asset types and business expansion, together with continuous improvement.
    • Execute near-term strategic goals and strategic road map increments.

  • Technology and Data Enablement
    • Collaborate with SVP, Data & Tech Products to develop robust Investment systems architecture.
    • Lead efforts to enhance data quality across investment, finance, and risk systems.
    • Contribute to enabling investment strategies, advancing tools/automation/AI, defining future state.
    • Drive automation, workflow improvement, and analytic capabilities that enable speed and scalability, better insights, and faster decision making.

  • Collaboration and Alignment
    • Key internal partners include investments, investment accounting, finance, and global technology.
    • Support and as needed, participate in external stakeholder engagement (e.g. board, investors, clients, regulators).
    • Collaborate with Risk partners, to monitor and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks, and ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Financial Management
    • Oversee team and process around effective budget projection and management and ensure integration of Plan related investment information for enterprise planning.
    • Develop management of reporting, KPIs, and dashboards to provide visibility into Investment Operations and business performance.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:

  • 15+ years of experience in asset management business operations, including process, systems, and execution excellence, across public and private asset operations, derivatives operations, and financial management, ideally including experience at a public global organization.  Familiarity with asset management data and data governance.
  • 10+ years of management experience including senior leadership roles within the asset management or financial services industry, with a strong focus on operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operational strategy development and execution, process optimization, and operational risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and drive change needed for continuous improvement to support enterprise strategy and scalability.
  • Track record of building, developing, and managing high-performing teams in a complex environment.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Preferred: 

  • Experience in evaluating, selecting, and implementing new systems and managing key vendor relationships
  • Highly analytical and data-driven, with the ability to leverage data to inform decision-making and drive operational improvements.
  • Experience with technological innovation and digital transformation initiatives in the context of operations
  • Professional network and approach for assessing best practices, emerging trends and risk
  • Experience with broad asset types and currencies
  • Experience in global organization; multiple currency, regulatory, accounting, and capital regimes
  • Experience working in virtual and/or remote team environments

Compensation Range:

$294,100.00 - $443,167.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
