Title

Manager Volunteer Services

Responsible for the development, planning, coordination and direction of the Volunteer Services program. Assesses volunteer service capabilities and hospital needs in collaboration with Bronson employees; develops and implements new volunteer services according to identified needs. Conducts ongoing communication with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well prepared. Actively recruits, interviews, onboards, and supports volunteers. Enhances the volunteer experience by ensuring volunteers are assigned roles that align with their skills and interests, managing volunteer integration into the organization, supporting volunteer needs, and recognizing and celebrating volunteer contributions.

Manages software to maintain volunteer information, schedules, and data.

Plans & implements volunteer recognition programs.

Establishes and enforces volunteer policies and procedures.

Evaluates effectiveness of current and future volunteer opportunities and the overall volunteer program and makes improvements as needed.

  • Must have experience and ability to lead and motivate volunteers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment.
  • Develops short- and long-term goals for his/her area of responsibility and plans to accomplish agreed-upon goals.
  • Develops, secures approval of, and administers the budget which provides for the attainment of agreed-upon goals and in accordance with approved plans.
  • Develops and provides a positive work climate for the department.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development.
  • Directs the preparation of departmental records as well as recurring and special reports and analyses, ensuring that they are complete, accurate and prepared on time. Reviews and interprets them in order to ascertain the extent to which departmental goals are being attained; takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or appropriate field or Certified Volunteer Administrator; and 3-5 years’ experience in volunteer administration with specific evidence of management skills required.
  • Certified Volunteer Administrator preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in community relations, human relations, administrative, and human resource functions required
  • Must have demonstrated organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing events
  • Must be able to effectively collaborate and communicate with patients, visitors, physicians, employees, retirees, volunteers and prospective volunteers
  • Must be able to travel to all Bronson locations
  • Work which produces a level of mental/visual fatigue, approximately 20 percent of the work time. Computer usage 50-75 percent of the time. Involves some standing or walking.  Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.
