JOB DESCRIPTION:
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Juvenile Justice Counselor is a hybrid of 50% working on the Mental Health Juvenile Justice grant and 50% providing clinical support and treatment to the Juvenile Justice population as a Juvenile Justice counselor.
The Mental Health Juvenile Justice Counselor role provides support to at risk and legally involved youth and their families with referral and linkage and providing community outreach and engagement. The Juvenile Justice counselor role provides individual, group, and family therapy, skill building and case management to at risk and legally involved youth.
Provides therapeutic interventions to promote personal growth and resiliency in the form of emotional, cognitive, behavioral and/or psychological changes in youth who are at-risk and/or justice-involved who present with mental health concerns. Performs continuing assessment of the client’s needs and functioning, maintenance of appropriate documentation and development, and implementation of personal growth plans consistent with the client’s therapeutic needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other human service related field required.
Years of Experience
Experience providing counseling and mental health services with children and adolescents preferred.
Certification/Licensure
Must meet Qualified Mental Health Professional status in relevant programs.
