The Fleet Maintenance Superintendent position at the City of Tucson’s General Services Department plans, organizes, and allocates resources to manage shop operations and personnel who maintain and repair a diverse fleet of City vehicles and equipment. This position collaborates with and supports all city departments’ fleet requirements.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Fleet Services Administrator. This position supervises.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages operations within the area of responsibility to develop, enhance, or sustain quality of service by providing process and program development and oversight, resolving complex issues, developing and communicating division and individual expectations, policies, procedures, and strategic direction.
Supervises and oversees the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, facilitating access to resources and training, providing guidance and addressing issues, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.
Oversees the repair and maintenance of vehicles and manages maintenance rates charged.
Coordinates and oversees the vehicle and equipment replacement schedules and calculates funding rates and unit replacement costs.
Inspect and monitor work areas, tools and equipment, the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.
Coordinates system access and ensures accuracy of records and data entry.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
