Hours: 6:45 pm - 7:15 am / 4 days on - 4 days off

Location: Plant City, FL

While reporting to the MFG Department Manager, as the Egg Line Operator (Applicator Operator), performing maintenance tasks, specifically proactive tasks, necessary to provide high-quality, efficient, and timely shipment of TOPPAN products.  Safety, quality, productivity, and a strong work ethic are important to Highland Packaging's culture. 

Role: Entry-level assistant position working on inline labeling machines, reporting to the Technical Team Lead in the Thermoforming Department.  This position supports the egg line packaging production.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Must show proficiency in all Level 2 requirements.
  • Must be able to adjust suction cup placement at the denester to achieve proper denesting of the egg cartons.
  • Must be able to change over the machine to different-sized egg cartons.
  • Must be able to adjust the glue placement and air pressure to ensure proper glue shot.
  • Must be able to inspect and identify problems with the line.
  • Must possess required (employee-provided) tools.

Tool list: 2 hex key folding sets (standard and metric), combination screwdriver set, standard wrench set (ratcheting), pliers set, tool bag.

  • Must be able to adjust the pick and place angle of the denester and label applicator.
  • Must continue to demonstrate the ability to run the machine efficiently to meet the standard consistently.

Skills Required:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience and ability to use standard hand tools.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English, understanding equipment manuals and diagrams.
  • Ability to support safety programs and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned:
    • Ability to work a 12-hour shift in a fast-paced environment, standing and walking for extended periods
    • Climbing, lifting, and carrying products weighing up to 40 lbs.
    • Visually read safety postings, bulletin boards, operating instructions, and computer monitors/screens.
    • Hear safety warning devices and alarms.
  • Must be prompt in reporting to work and prompt in notifying the supervisor if unable to report to work.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude and ability to follow directions, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the inline labeling line.
  • Basic computer skills are a plus.
