Location: Elk Grove, IL
Job: Pre-Press Assistant
Rate: $24.59/hr
Shift: 8:00 am -4:00 pm, Monday- Friday OT as required based on production needs.

The Pre-Press Assistant position reports directly to the department manager.

What you will be doing:

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete Pre-Flight for daily production.
  • Double check work orders.
  • Gather all information needed.
  • Usage daily of Color Cert.
  • Create Job Control Sheet – tells press what ink to be used on jobs.
  • SPEC system
  • Communicate with Graphics Planner daily on jobs.
  • If needed K-proofs and /or GMG’s for jobs.
  • Communicate with Schedule Planner daily on jobs.
  • Assist Daily Operations.
  • Provide Technical Service to Press Dept.
  • Create Color folder to be used as set standards for press & color cert.
  • Create Run conditions with Anilox volumes for Press Dept.
  • Pick up items daily – already ran and place all items in their designated area.
  • Document all K-proofs for future references.
  • Maintain 5S in the office—Both Siegwerk Employees & Sonoco Employees.
  • Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to the job.
  • Report all food safety violations to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in Toppan’s Global Performance System (GPS) activities as required – 5Star, Pillar Teams, Audits, Near Misses, etc.
  • Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are required and expected for job performance.
  • Plate check responsibilities are as follows
  • Check emails regularly for production needs and schedule changes
  • Maintain the plate inventory system and update regularly as required.
  • Attend daily production schedule meeting for production needs and changes
  • Order plates daily as required for production print jobs per schedule.
  • Open new plate shipment arrivals and put plates away in inventory.
  • Inspect plates both prior and after production when putting into inventory replace as needed by placing orders.
  • Print work orders as required.
  • Mark and identify plates as required using assigned tools
  • Constant communication with graphics and production regarding plate inventory status and remakes.

  • Proficient in MS office
  • Familiar with basic EXCEL
  • Are able to read, speak and write in English proficiently 
  • Color match and ink related experience preferred but not required
  • Have excellent math skills
  • Have excellent communication skills - both written & verbal
  • Able to work independently
  • Attention to detail

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
