Job Description Summary:

The RN: Shift Coordinator will provide support to and work collaboratively with the Clinical Manager and the Director of the department/unit.  The RN: Shift Coordinator will hold staff accountable to performance and behavioral standards during their shifts and provide feedback to the Clinical Manager.  The RN: Shift Coordinator is an extension of the Clinical Manager and is empowered to address issues and concerns on their respective shift.  This is a dynamic role and this position will work staff member will work a third of their shifts in a staff-RN capacity. 

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with staffing and scheduling.

  • Improve patient experience by rounding on patients and families and providing service recovery on her/his shift.

  •  Ensure compliance with metrics.

  • Acts as a resource for staff.

  • Participates in the staff interview process and retention of staff.

  • Provides feedback for performance reviews. 

  • Provides and documents coaching and counseling as appropriate. 

  • Actively participates on unit committees and other unit meetings.

  • Act in the capacity of a bed-side RN during scheduled shifts, providing excellent nursing care in accordance with the KBN nursing regulations and UofL Health policies and procedures

Other Functions:

  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct

  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times

  • Performs other duties as assigned

A Note on Required Qualifications:

UofL Health will accept a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) from the NCSBN in lieu of a Kentucky Nursing License, per the KBN.
