Job Summary

The Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) Manager supports the mission of UofL Health by applying leadership and managerial skills in planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring the daily operations of the Cath Lab. The IR Manager will have responsibility for the financial performance, service, quality and quality improvements, clinical outcomes, employee satisfaction, and patient satisfaction of both locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct line leadership to employees that reflects the mission, vision, and values of the UofL Health System.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors policies, procedures, and protocols for the Cath Lab department, which are consistent with professional standards for both Radiology and Nursing.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring quality goal processes within the lab.
  • Prepare budget or assist in development; provide projections and recommendations. Manage financial data and monitor budget to meet goals. Resolve budget discrepancies.
  • Identify trends and determine Quality Assurance priorities. Develop evidence-based quality standards. Allocate resources to meet quality and productivity expectation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all pertinent regulatory standards and leads the staff in adhering to those standards.
  • Identifies quality improvement activities for the department. Monitor quality data and initiates action, as necessary.
  • Participates in hospital-wide quality improvement activities and survey processes. Ensures that quality care is being always delivered. Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Develop action plans for units that meet strategic goals; provide progress reports to the Director of Cardiac Services.
  • Conducts staff meetings with department and facilitates active participation of staff members in shared governance of the department.
  • Mentors and coaches’ staff to improve performance and enhance skills.
  • Ensures procedural charges are accurate and complete by daily charge reconciliation.
  • Works in collaboration with the Nursing Education Department to select, implement, coordinate, and monitor departmental-specific competency strategies for all nursing job categories within the department.
  • Attends and actively participates in various leadership groups and committees in the hospital and system as designated.
  • Advocate for needs of unit with healthcare leaders; collaborates with medical director of unit regarding program development, process improvements, and equipment budgets.
  • Actively supports interpersonal/social skills with customers, colleagues and peers.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Cath Lab, ER and inpatient/outpatient nursing units.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including assisting with procedures and providing patient care.

Additional Job Description:

EDUCATION:

  • Either a graduate of a JRC approved program in Radiologic Technology with minimum of an Associate’s degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences or related field (strongly preferred).
  • Or a Registered Nurse (RN)- Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required)
  • Master of Science Nursing or other master’s degrees, such as business or healthcare administration will be considered (preferred)


EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years’ in the technological aspects of Cardiac Catheterization labs with PCI, with a minimum of 1-year prior management or supervisory experience required. Academic medical center or Cardiovascular clinical service experience preferred.
  • If RN, 5 years in a critical care setting. At least 1-year previous supervisory experience. Previous experience supervising/managing a Cath Lab (preferred)

LICENSURE:

  • If RN, Active Kentucky Registered Nurse License or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required)

CERTIFICATION:

  • Certification in Specialty must be maintained including State Licensure if Applicable Certification in one or more health disciplines in Diagnostic Imaging. (required)

  • Certification in Specialty within 1 year
