Job Description Summary:

The Rehab Technician is a non- licensed caregiver who works under the direction of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and/or Assistant to aid in the provision of patient care. The technician will be involved with patient preparation, components of certain interventions, and post-treatment procedures. Specific tasks will be determined by the specific therapy provider, Physical Therapy (PT,) UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with five hospitals, four medical centers, nearly 200 physician practice locations, more than 700 providers, the Frazier Rehab Institute and Brown Cancer Center.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Administers components of interventions (therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activity, gait training, activities of daily living); specific functions and tasks will be determined by the therapy provider (PT, OT, or SLP)
  • Performs setup for exercise, evaluation, or modality equipment
  • Assists in transfer and/or transport of patients, as needed
  • Take vital signs, as needed
  • Assists therapist with initiation and monitoring of patients on available therapy and exercise equipment within the rehab department
  • Monitors departmental supply level
  • Performs clerical duties (answers phones, scheduling, data entry, filing)
  • Reports any and all status changes regarding patient to supervising Therapist or Assistant
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of all patient care equipment and treatment areas

Additional Job Description:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)

Experience:

  • Previous clerical experience (preferred) 
  • Experience as Physical Therapy Tech (preferred)

Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
