Position Start Date:  August 15, 2026

Required Degree: PhD

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: 

Some experience teaching undergraduate courses.  Demonstrated interest in teaching and engaging undergraduate students.  Willingness to contribute to the department for a limited-term appointment.

Duties/Expectations: 

The Department of Philosophy at Brigham Young University announces a search for a candidate to fill a non-CFS-track (analogous to tenure-track) opening, which may also be filled by a visiting faculty member. The area of research and teaching specialization is open. The successful candidate will be expected to:

1. Teach six courses per year, including lower-division offerings that satisfy the university's general education requirements, service courses unique to the Philosophy major, and courses in the candidate's area of specialization.

2. Maintain a robust research agenda which should issue in regular publications in respected venues.

3. Lend service in the department, college, and university, and contribute actively to the life of the department.
