SEM HavenActivities staff work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, visitors and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment in the home. He or she is responsible for the development and delivery of recreational services to promote the resident’s opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels. This includes services that affect daily life on the household and involves cross training in nurse aide, housekeeping and food service. Services provided must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our organization.Job Functions

There are stresses associated with working in a long-term care environment. Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to, shift rotation, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in the facility, death and dying, oversight of State surveyors, Ombudsmen and Federal officials, presence of consultants and Attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff.
MOBILITY - Able to move freely about
LIFTING - Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
CLIMBING/BALANCING - Occasionally
STOOPING/BENDING - Regularly
PUSHING - Regularly (up to 25 lbs.)
STANDING/SITTING - Regularly standing, occasional sitting
REACHING - Occasionally
SPEAKING - Must be able to speak, read & write the English language in an understandable manner.
VISION & HEARING - Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of position can be fully met.

Minimum Qualification Standards
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School graduate; advanced training, degree or certificate in activities or related area preferred. Previous experience in leading recreational activities, arts/crafts, intellectual/educational activities, community outings, etc., desired.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSES: state-tested nurse aide.
Freedom from illegal use of drugs and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace is essential.
