Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, is hiring a FT Faculty in the Scandinavian Studies and Interdisciplinary Humanities programs for a one year appointment (with the possibility of two additional years of renewal).
Required Degree:
Masters or PhD in a Scandinavian-related field or another humanistic field with evidence of interdisciplinary training or scholarly/teaching interests.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience: Teaching experience in Scandinavian Studies, Interdisciplinary Humanities or related files are preferred. Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate and support student research are desirable.
Duties/Expectations:
Duties include teaching courses in the Scandinavian Studies and Interdisciplinary Humanities programs; advising and mentoring minor undergraduate students; and providing service to the program, department, college, university and broader community. The Scandinavian Studies program is affiliated with the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies and has emphases in broadly conceived interdisciplinarity, global and cultural awareness, area studies, politics, sociology, and humanistic disciplines such as Art History and Visual Culture, Literature, Film and Media, and Cultural History. While strong preference will be given to applicants with a specialty in Scandinavian Studies, candidates without a Scandinavian specialization but a PhD in a humanities discipline (Art History, Literature, Film and Media Studies, Cultural History, etc.) are also welcome to apply.
