Position Start Date: January 2, 2026

Required Degree:  BA, BS, BFA required, preferred in experience design, graphic design, human-computer interaction, or industrial design; Preferred degree is MS or MFA in Graphic Design or Interaction Design.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: Experience with:

  • Communication with college-level students and collaboration with colleagues in a collegial manner.

  • Teaching technical concepts requires an efficient thinker with a unique and enthusiastic approach to helping students.

  • Professional experience in fields relevant to user experience design, interface design, and digital graphic design.

Duties/Expectations: 

  • Teach undergraduate courses (DESGD 260/DESPX 260 User Experience 1, DESGD 362 Interactive Typographic Systems) using department-approved curriculum.

  • Courses include instruction in core user experience concepts such as usability, user flows, mental models, graphic systems, and typographic hierarchy, with practical industry-relevant assignments building digital product applications, designing complex websites, and creating unique interfaces.

  • As with all graphic design classes, critiques will include instruction on visual concepts and strategy, communication, and aesthetic principles of graphic design.

  • The position will require lecturing, creating assignments, grading, critiques, and communicating/responding to student emails.

  • Part-time faculty are not required to hold office hours, attend staff meetings, serve on committees, or mentor students.
