Position Start Date: January 2, 2026

 

Required Degree:  Master’s or doctoral degree in Special Education or related discipline. 

The required degree must be completed by the start date. 

 

Experience: Relevant applied experience in a professional setting. Preferred experience as an instructor at the college level.

Duties/Expectations: 

  • Help students meet learning objectives when teaching CPSE 402: Educating Students with/Disabilities in Secondary Education through instruction and other methods, observe and evaluate student performance, and address academic or professional concerns.
  • This course offers an introduction to educating students with disabilities in secondary classrooms. Students will learn to define special education and describe the legal structure of services for individuals with disabilities, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); describe the academic and behavioral characteristics of students with high and low incidence disabilities; and describe the effects of cultural, ethnic, and language diversity on the education of individuals with disabilities. 
  • They will also learn research-supported methods for academic instruction of individuals with disabilities, including explicit instruction, learning strategies, task analysis, active participation, classroom management, accommodations for the general education, and co-teaching. 
  • Must be available to teach in person 12-1:50 pm on campus Mondays for Winter semester, January 7 to April 15, 2026.
