Job Summary:


Provides coordination and supervision for organizing, planning, scheduling, and implementing activities for WMCG's Safety Department. This position plans, implements, coordinates, and assesses hospital accidents, fire prevention, fleet management, facilities operations and occupational safety and health programs under the general direction of hospital officials, utilizing knowledge of industrial safety-related engineering discipline and operating regulations.


Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


Fleet operations, including transportation oversight to strategically/carefully deploy vehicle resources throughout Wellstar MCG. Analyze and manage financial resources; uses lean and other quality skills to reduce vehicle, fuel, and maintenance costs and improve operations performance. Combines marketing and communication strategies to support a service line and organization. Also, create, manage, and execute project scope, schedule, resources, and change management initiatives. Identify and manage project risks, issues, and opportunities proactively.
Implements and manages all Safety programs and resources. Triages all work requests for Safety to ensure it is sent to the correct service provider for resolution. Manages the emergency response calls for services and assigns for after-hour response for Safety Technicians. Provides survey tool for ensuring customer needs are met from a Safety standpoint. Attends required monthly OSHA section safety meeting. Attends annual safety trainings and updates. Provides training to departments for fire prevention, hazardous waste, and safety-related items. Practices safe work habits and follows procedures. Assist in facilities operations management for related buildings and management of employees and environment. Encourages and promotes a safe working environment. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures. Maintains all required certifications and annual training.
Maintains EOC trending information. Maintains all Joint Commission documentation for the Safety Office. Maintains all fire protection documentation. Maintains the implementation and completion of work orders in Maximo. Ensures all emergency safety equipment is tested and inspected such as eyewashes and safety shower. Assists and serves as back up to other Facilities employees. Investigates reported indoor environmental quality complaints including odors, fumes, dust, or other environmental problems.
Contracts for the recycling or disposal of wastes to include mercury containing lamps, PCB-contaminated lamp ballasts, and heavy metal batteries. Develops and maintains a regulatory compliant plan for collecting said mercury containing lamps. Coordinates recycling vendor pickup with Purchasing and assures the vendor's truck gets properly loaded. Contracts for recycling or disposal of special category wastes.
Recruits, selects, trains, assigns, schedules, coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees. Communicates job expectations. Plans, monitors, appraises, and reviews job contributions. Directs day-to-day duties for Safety Technicians. Evaluates performance of all staff as outlined per policy. Trains and evaluates contract employees. Sets work schedule for staff. Utilizes time efficiently and schedules daily assignments.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.


Required Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma General or GED General or Bachelors General-Preferred


Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):


All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

  • GADL - Georgia Driver's License or VSDL - Valid State Driver's License

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):


CHSP Upon Hire Preferred
State construction license Upon Hire Preferred


Required Minimum Experience:


Minimum 3 years related field and employee supervisory experience. Required or
Minimum 5 years healthcare safety and customer service setting. Preferred
