Job Description

Job Title: Temporary I-9 Specialist

Department: Human Resources / HR Operations
Reports To: HR Operations I-9 Manager
Duration: Temporary (Semester Rush Period)

The Temporary I-9 Specialist will provide support to the Human Resources and Student Employment teams during peak hiring periods. This position is responsible for assisting new hires with completing Form I-9 employment verification in Workday, guiding employees through the process, and ensuring compliance with federal requirements.

What you will be doing in this position:

  • Assist new hires (faculty, staff, and student employees) with completing Form I-9 in Workday.

  • Provide step-by-step guidance on how to access Workday and complete required onboarding tasks.

  • Verify documentation for employment eligibility in accordance with federal I-9 requirements.

  • Explain acceptable forms of identification and answer related questions.

  • Review I-9 forms for accuracy and completeness before submission.

  • Support HR staff in maintaining organized and compliant I-9 records.

  • Direct employees to appropriate HR contacts or resources as needed.

  • Assist with walk-in appointments and manage high-volume traffic during semester rush.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the onboarding process.

What qualifies you for this role:

  • Prior experience in HR, onboarding, or administrative support preferred.

  • Familiarity with Form I-9 requirements and E-Verify processes is a plus.

  • Experience using Workday or similar HRIS systems preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment during peak periods.

Schedule: beginning of December for training between the hours of 8-5PM - 20-30 hours a week for training. Up to 40 hours per week starting January 5, 2026

 

Pay Grade:  45

 

Typical Starting Pay: $15.50-$19.25
