Job Description

Supplier Set-up and Support Specialist (Part-time 28 hours/week)

The Supplier Support Specialist works with BYU systems—including Workday and Relish—to support campus end users, student employees, and external vendors. This role provides frontline assistance by answering calls and emails, validating vendors, resolving system issues, and ensuring timely and accurate supplier onboarding. The Specialist also trains student employees and serves as backup to the immediate supervisor when they are unavailable.

Note: This is a part-time position (28) hours/week

What you’ll do in this position:

Support & Communication

  • Respond to incoming calls and emails from campus employees, student workers, and vendors.
  • Provide clear, professional guidance to resolve system-related questions.
  • Build trust through reliable, responsive communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Supplier Setup & Verification

  • Evaluate and process new supplier requests in Workday.
  • Create and update supplier records in the vendor master file.
  • Understand system workflows related to supplier onboarding.
  • Review sensitive vendor information (e.g., tax/banking data) with appropriate discretion.
  • Participate in identifying and preventing fraudulent attempts targeting the University.

Problem Solving & Training

  • Work with suppliers and student employees to resolve issues in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Assist in identifying and preventing fraudulent supplier activity.
  • Train new student employees and provide ongoing in-service training for current staff.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Experience working with enterprise systems; intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Workday and/or Relish.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and support student employees.
  • Problem-solving ability and sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

Pay Grade: 49

Typical Starting Pay: $22.75 - $29.50
