Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow Faculty - Chemistry – CMG2/ANTXR2 Signaling, Cytoskeletal Dynamics, and Angiogenesis

Required Degree:  Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related field.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: 

• Strong background in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology.
• Experience with protein–protein interaction assays (e.g., immunoprecipitation, pulldown assays, recombinant protein expression, or biophysical binding methods).
• Familiarity with cytoskeletal or cell-migration biology (actin, microtubules, focal adhesions, or related pathways).
• Experience with fluorescence microscopy or confocal imaging.
• Strong communication skills and a demonstrated record of scientific productivity.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with endothelial cell models or angiogenesis-related research.
• Expertise in live-cell imaging, quantitative image analysis, or microfluidic chemotaxis systems.
• Experience working with extracellular matrix proteins or receptor–ligand interactions.
• Background in proteomics or complex protein-interaction network analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team.

Duties/Expectations: 

• Conduct independent, high-quality research aligned with the lab’s NIH-funded project.
• Uphold high standards of integrity, scientific rigor, and reproducibility.
• Maintain clear and organized notebooks, data records, and documentation.
• Engage with co-workers and contribute to a positive, collaborative lab culture.
• Represent BYU professionally in publications, presentations, and collaborations.
• Design and execute experiments investigating CMG2/ANTXR2 function in endothelial cells, including its interactions with cytoskeletal regulatory proteins.
• Study cell migration behaviors using microfluidic devices and live-cell imaging platforms.
• Characterize CMG2-associated protein complexes using biochemical, proteomic, and molecular approaches (e.g., co-IP, affinity purification, mass spectrometry workflows, mutagenesis).
• Perform confocal imaging and quantitative analysis of cytoskeletal organization, receptor and other protein localization, endocytosis, and vesicle trafficking.
• Contribute to hypothesis development, experimental design, and interpretation of data.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers in the lab.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication and present research at conferences.
• Assist with grant writing and preparing progress reports.
