Required Degree: 

Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Leadership or a related field

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: 

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence as a K-12 school principal (3+ years)
  • Demonstrated excellence or clear potential in teaching graduate-level courses in school leadership (e.g., instructional leadership, philosophy and ethical school leadership, human and resource management, ethical issues, principalship roles, improving teaching and learning)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach diverse learners, representing unique needs, interests, and fields of study
  • Demonstrated excellence or clear potential in mentoring and advising graduate students toward professional licensure in school administration
  • Ability to work on a team and collaborate with faculty in a higher education academic unit

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence in upper-level / district K-12 leadership (3+ years)
  • Experience working with research-practice partnerships between universities and K-12 schools
  • Experience planning large-scale training and professional development events
  • Experience effectively leading professional learning communities
  • Experience working with the BYU-Public School Partnership beliefs and commitments

Duties/Expectations: 

The McKay School of Education at Brigham Young University invites applications for a Continuing Faculty Status track (tenure track equivalent) professional faculty position in the department of Educational Leadership and Foundations (EDLF) beginning August 1, 2026. Starting rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The EDLF Department offers the following degree programs:

  • MEd in School Leadership
  • EdD in Educational Leadership
  • PhD in Educational Inquiry, Measurement, and Evaluation
