Job Summary:
The Head Coach provides visionary leadership for BYU’s Women’s Gymnastics program, directing all competitive, developmental, and administrative aspects necessary to build and sustain a nationally respected program. This includes comprehensive meet strategy, purposeful practice design, student-athlete development, and program planning that aligns with the values and mission of Brigham Young University.

The Head Coach is expected to mentor and inspire student-athletes to become women of character, resilience, faith, and competitive excellence. Through intentional coaching, academic and spiritual support, and a culture of unity and accountability, the Head Coach fosters individual growth and collective success in pursuit of team and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, recruit, train, supervise, instruct, and coach student-athletes and coaching staff

  • Help determine scouting schedules for high school and college meets

  • Interview prospective student-athletes, their parents, and coaches, and make certain prospective athletes and their parents understand the academic and other requirements of BYU student-athletes

  • Interact with media, alumni, and civic groups

  • Supervise assistant coaches and other staff as appropriate

  • Budget oversight and management

  • Scheduling, practicing, and meet planning

  • Other duties as assigned by the Sport Administrator and/or Athletic Director.

What Qualifies You to Apply?

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (must have required degree by start date)

  • 4 years of college gymnastics and/or coaching experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of Division I gymnastics and NCAA rules and regulations

  • Willingness to uphold and live by the university's Honor Code

  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend, which may be verified during the application process.

Preferred

  • College coaching experience (strongly preferred)

  • Recruiting experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of university policies
