Position Start Date: June 22, 2026

Required Degree: MA in Spanish Literature, Language, Culture, Pedagogy, Education, or related field. At least one degree (BA, MA, PhD) must be related to Spanish. Foreign degrees accepted. The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: 

  • Experience in teaching Spanish at the university level is preferred, and familiarity/skill with online teaching and/or technology is a plus.
  • Near-native fluency in written and spoken Spanish is required.

Duties/Expectations: 

  • The candidate may be asked to teach for BYU, BYU Online, or BYU Continuing Education, including the BYU Salt Lake Center.

  • The successful candidate will teach from 1 to 3 third-year undergraduate Spanish courses (SPAN 321, 322, SWGL—Spanish Writing and Grammar Lab) that balance emphasis on Spanish language and its related literatures and cultures.

  • This position requires the adjunct faculty member to hold office hours to meet with students and to be available via email to communicate with students, faculty, and office staff.

  • Other duties may include but are not limited to attending meetings and trainings with the coordinator of third-year instruction, participating in professional development, and any other important events that require the assistance of the adjunct instructor.

  • Participation in the annual Foreign Language Fair is required.
