Overview:

Sentara is hiring an IV Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician II at Virginia Beach General Hospital

Location: Virginia Beach, VA- Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital

Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Shift: Rotating (8 hour shift)

Hours: 6:30a-3p, 8a-430p, 2p-1030p *Must be available for all of the shifts listed*

Weekends: every other weekend required

Holiday Rotation

*Hours may vary to meet pharmacy staffing needs.

The IV Pharmacy Tech performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area

  • Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice

  • Training in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions

  • Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions

  • Participates in the training of new employees

  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty position

  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care

  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed

  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information

  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements

  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately

  • Training in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Certification/Licensure

  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)

  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB (Required)

Experience

  • 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)

  • 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)
