About MicroAire:

MicroAire Surgical Instruments, a mid-sized medical device company in Charlottesville Virginia, is seeking a Software Documentation Specialist temporary assignment who is bi-lingual English/French, to support review and translate key documents for medical device software validation and cyber security compliance.

About the Job:

Under the oversight of Electrical Engineering the Software Documentation Specialist will adapt/create cyber security documentation for new products from multiple document sources and regulatory guidance.  Supports the software validation process for medical devices.  Translates software documentation from French to English with support of an AI translation tool.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following fields:
  • Computer Science
  • Software Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Cybersecurity

Experience:

• 0-2 years of experience in:
  • Translating technical or engineering documentation (software, flowcharts, technical manuals)
  • Reviewing and editing machine-translated (AI-generated) documentation
  • Working within regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals is a plus
  • Creating cybersecurity documentation or working with secure systems (preferred but not required)

Skills:

• Strong understanding of technical writing standards and ability to translate nuanced technical content
• Proficiency in tools such as:
  • AI translation platforms (e.g., DeepL, Google Translate API)
  • Document tools (Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, XML editors)
  • Diagram tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) for working with flowcharts
• Familiarity with software development terminology, source code commenting, and cybersecurity frameworks
• Strong organizational and editing skills to ensure clarity and consistency in translated and original documents
• Bi-lingual French/English a plus
• Knowledge of cybersecurity documentation standards (e.g., FDA Guidance, IEC 81001-5-1, IEC 62443) is a plus

• Hourly rate target $24 per hour
