Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Communication Surveillance Analyst to monitor, review, and investigate employee communications (e.g. email, chat, voice, and other electronic communications) to identify potential compliance breaches, misconduct, or policy violations. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the integrity and reputation of the organization by ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal communication standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor electronic communications across multiple channels (e.g. email, messaging platforms, voice recordings) using surveillance systems and tools.

  • Identify, escalate, and document suspicious or non-compliant behavior related to market abuse, unauthorized communication channels, insider trading, and other regulatory risks.

  • Conduct in-depth reviews of flagged communications, applying relevant compliance and conduct frameworks.

  • Collaborate with FO, Compliance, T&C, and other stakeholders during investigations or escalations.

  • Assist in refining and updating lexicon rules, alerts, and system parameters to improve monitoring efficiency and reduce false positives.

  • Support regular audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal compliance reviews.

  • Maintain accurate records of investigations, findings, evidence, and actions taken.

  • Provide input on surveillance policies and contribute to training initiatives aimed at increasing communication compliance awareness.

  • Stay informed of industry best practices, emerging risks, and regulatory changes affecting communication surveillance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years experience in communication surveillance, compliance, audit, or a related risk management role.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as MiFID II, MAR, FINRA, NFA, or equivalent.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

  • Experience with surveillance platforms (e.g. Bloomberg Vault, Smarsh) is a strong plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of trading activity and financial products (equities, derivatives, fixed income, etc.).

  • Previous experience working in a financial institution, brokerage, or regulatory body.

  • Knowledge of data privacy and information security standards.

With respect to this position in our Houston Office, the expected base salary ranges from $125,000 to $140,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
