Job Duties:

This is an on-campus full-time academic year teaching assistant professor position. The teaching load is 12 credits each semester. The responsibilities associated with this position include: teaching undergraduate courses; engaging in professional development and scholarly activities; engaging in service to the department, university and profession; and promoting and supporting the university's mission, vision, and values. Excellence in teaching, scholarship/professional development, and service are required for retention and promotion. The position requires board-certification as a medical technologist/medical laboratory scientist.

Possible teaching course opportunities may include but are not limited to the following areas – hematology and hemostasis. 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years work as a professional in a medical laboratory setting  
  • Minimum of 3 years work as a professional in a medical laboratory setting 
  • Strong sense of integrity, ability to be flexible, a self-starter, and a quick learner
  • Clinical background in hematology and hemostasis and ability to teach molecular diagnostics  
  • Effective team member 
  • Current and maintained certification in MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), or CLS (NCA), AMT(MT) 
  • Good interpersonal skills 
  • Clinical or academic doctorate degree in a field related to health science 
  • Good oral and written communication skills 
  • Academic course teaching experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Current and maintained certification in MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), or CLS (NCA), AMT(MT)
  • Minimum of 3 years work as a professional in a medical laboratory setting
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Effective team member

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical or academic doctorate degree in a field related to health science
  • Academic course teaching experience
  • Clinical background in hematology and hemostasis and ability to teach molecular diagnostics
  • Minimum of 5 years work as a professional in a medical laboratory setting
  • Strong sense of integrity, ability to be flexible, a self-starter, and a quick learner

Master’s degree
