The Assistant Teacher is required to adhere and implement the mission, goals, and values of the Superior Douglas County Family YMCA within the local community. This involves delivering high-quality child education programs in the YMCA service area and adhering to the Wisconsin Licensing Rules. This position is responsible for instructional leadership, curriculum, and program activities. The Assistant Teacher supervises and guides children preschool or school age’s development in a safe and healthy environment. The Assistant Teacher’s schedule is set at the time of employment but are subject to change by the Director based on the needs of the Center.
Wisconsin Licensing Rules:
The schools you would be working at are: Cooper Elementary School, Bryant Elementary School, Northern Lights Elementary School, and Great Lakes Elementary School - these are all within 5 miles of campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
Pay Rate: $15/hr

This is an Off-Campus Work Study position. You must have work study in order to work in this position.

According to the Attorney General, ‘final candidates’ under Wisconsin law means the five candidates who are considered most qualified for the position. See Wis. Stat. Sec. 19.36(7)(a).
Employment will require a criminal background check, and if you have prior work history within the last seven years with Universities of Wisconsin or State of Wisconsin agencies, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct. It will also require your references to answer questions regarding employee misconduct, sexual violence and sexual harassment. The University reserves the right to check references with notice given to the candidates at the appropriate time in the process.
