Job Description 

The Official officiates and scores all intramural sports which require an official and ensures that play is kept fair within the rules of the activity. This includes handing out and recording jersey numbers; handling sportsmanship issues, injuries, and protests; and enforcing rules and making calls without bias. They help to provide a safe and pleasant atmosphere for intramural participants and assist the Intramural Activity Supervisors with set-up and clean-up as needed.  

This position reports to the Intramurals Officials Student Manager, Supervisors Student Manager, and the Recreation Programs Manager.

Compensation 

$12.50/hour 

The University Centers Student Employment Program Wage Classification Scale classifies this position as Division I, Range I. 

 

Required Qualifications 

Applicants must be available to work at least 4 games each week (totaling roughly 4 hours) and must attend staff meetings and events as necessary. This may include additional evening and weekend hours on an "as needed" basis. 

Successful applicants must complete Adult CPR, AED, and First AID certification courses within 8 weeks of beginning employment. Certification sessions will be provided by the University Centers. These certifications must be kept up to date throughout employment with the University Centers. Where applicable, Concussion Protocol Training will also be provided by the University Centers and must be completed within the same timeframe. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

Applicants will gain knowledge of total intramural activity being officiated, including rules and regulations, but previous experience with an intramural sport is ideal. 

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP. 

 

Education 

The Official must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
