PROMETHEAN OFFICE MANAGER
The office manager is responsible for organizing Promethean camera equipment, care and the check-out process for staff coverage in the newspaper and website. Also assists with public relations operations of the Promethean by completing the following duties:
*Checks out newspaper video camera equipment to staff and coordinates equipment return & use
*Delivers campus newspapers to newsstands throughout campus
• Monitors Basecamp to make sure all drafts and photos are posted on the day they are due
• Serves as a member of the editorial board
• Creates weekly and monthly calendars on board
• Writes story ideas on board (stories, editorials, etc.)
• Writes and sends thank you cards to newspaper supporters and advertisers and oversees office mail
• Works directly with adviser to organize annual trips and staff events
• Responsible for public relations and coordinates social media content with staff members as requested by editorial board
• Assists with Promethean website updates and responds to office inquiries from students, staff and community while working in the office
• Other duties as assigned by the editor-in-chief, or the adviser.
• *All staffers are expected to do their best to represent the campus newspaper while being as professional as possible in all aspects of the newspaper. Our mission is to cover campus and community events in our reporting. This also means representing Promethean in a positive manner on staff development trips, and in the community and while working with staff in the office.
Pay Grade for this job
Grade 059 which is $14.00 per hour with maximum hours 25 per week.
*Desirable qualifications include taking journalism related photos and photography and past experiences working with the student newspaper or other media outlets is preferred. Or journalism related classes.
