Job Duties:

The UW-Stevens Point Counseling Center is seeking a mental health Counselor (LPC, LMFT, LCSW). This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Counseling Center. The candidate who accepts this position will provide professional mental health therapy and consultation services for the campus community, incorporate a brief therapeutic model to address the emotional and behavioral needs of students, create developmental programming to increase healthy lifestyle and coping behaviors across campus, and provide input and advocacy for university mental health policy and initiatives. 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides counseling and/or information and referral services to faculty and staff
  • Serves on multidisciplinary campus committees
  • Provides individual and group counseling to students struggling with developmental and/or personal mental health issues and refers students to appropriate community resources
  • Prepares presentations and outreach activities and facilitates student adjustment and success programs to promote a healthy campus
  • Facilitates psycho-educational and process-oriented groups

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires valid licensure or license eligibility in the State of Wisconsin for: Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion practices within an organization, team, and/or campus environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education mental health setting and working with young adults 

  • Experience providing clinical care using teletherapy modalities.
