Job Duties:
The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Superior invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position beginning in August 2025. The Department is seeking individuals who will provide excellent undergraduate instruction, incorporate current techniques in teaching and research, and work collaboratively to strengthen the Department's biology program. For this position we are specifically seeking someone who will teach Human Anatomy & Physiology and upper division electives in the candidate's area of expertise and contribute to our growing Pre-Health Concentration.
The successful candidate will be dynamic, energetic, creative, and engaging. They will demonstrate commitment to the public liberal arts mission and to quality teaching and learning methods. Willingness and interest in utilizing technology in the classroom strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be committed to the highest ethical standards and demonstrate effective leadership and teamwork skills.
JOB DUTIES:
- Teach one or more of the following courses: Human Anatomy & Physiology I, Human Anatomy & Physiology II, Cell Biology
- Teach upper-division electives in the candidate's expertise that are complementary to current program and department offerings.
- Teach one or more courses for non-science majors in line with our liberal arts foundation, as determined by departmental needs.
- Utilize modern techniques in the laboratory classroom and research settings.
- Advise students in the biology major, particularly in the Pre-Health concentration.
- Provide service to the University and community through, but not limited to, participation in departmental and university committees as appropriate.
- Mentor students with research projects and internships and develop an active scholarly program consistent with the availability of resources.

Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in biology or a related discipline by August 31, 2025.
- Two semesters of experience in college-level teaching. Graduate teaching assistantships will be considered.
- A research background in biology or related life science.
- Experience or commitment to developing a research program that involves undergraduate biology majors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One semester or more of experience teaching anatomy & physiology and/or cell biology.
- Experience and professional development in best practices in teaching and learning, including experiential and active-learning styles.
- Experience in developing and delivering courses in online and alternative delivery formats.
- Experience or commitment in developing connections with allied health organizations.
