The Housing Facilities Manager oversees building maintenance operations and safety procedures within Housing and Residence Life, answering facilities-related questions and coaching to para-professional and professional staff as needed. This position supervises student employees and completes housing facilities requests submitted through web TMA work orders. This position is responsible for all residence hall locks and the key control system. This position also manages all building safety and compliance protocol. This position resolves issues and answers questions for students and families with their residence hall room furniture and building safety. This position assists in key administrative processes such as move-in and move-out, building refurbishment, furniture repair and renewal, project management, damage fees, and the in-hall camera security system.
Housing and Residence Life
• At least five years of significant and progressively responsible experience applicable to this position is required. A relevant bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college with applicable work experience would be acceptable
• A minimum of three years of experience in a managerial or supervisory leadership position in facilities, including maintenance and care of complex facilities, property, custodial systems, and/or building systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Expertise in facilities management, project management, and operations experience in a university, hospitality, or public access facility setting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and facilitate meetings with a variety of people including students, faculty, staff, parents, and outside constituents
• Exceptional organizational and logistical planning skills with the ability to meet numerous deadlines and adhere to strict schedules
• Fluent skills in modern technologies, including mobile devices, email, spreadsheets, word processing, and web-based facilities management applications
• This position may require off-hour response availability
• Routine travel is required. Candidates must possess and maintain State and University driver authorization as a condition of employment
• Knowledge of mechanical principles, equipment, methods, techniques, and terminology used in operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, etc.
• Knowledge of complicated equipment operating manuals, technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Knowledge of codes and standards related to building, fire safety, electrical, and plumbing systems, elevators, etc.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of DOC, EPA regulations, ADA requirements, and occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Experience advising, training, and supervising college students
• Deep knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Experience working in a university environment strongly preferred
This is a academic staff annual position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
