Veterans Services Coordinator

Job Duties:

The Military Education Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the administration of state and federal veteran educational benefit programs available to military-affiliated students.  These benefits include, but are not limited to the Post 9/11 GI Bill, WI GI Bill, and the National Guard Tuition Reimbursement Grant. In addition, the Military Education Benefits Coordinator will assist with customer service and other duties related to day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid and Veteran Services Office.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains established methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to work operations according to established policies and procedures
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations
  • Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures under general supervision
  • Collects, analyzes, and prepares various communication materials from established sources utilizing technology mediums
  • Serves as a first point of contact for individuals and groups, provides basic organizational information via phone, in person and through other communication mediums, and routes more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities

The Office of Financial Aid and Veteran Services plays an integral part in student recruitment and retention efforts and educating our students on financial awareness topics which helps support the University’s mission by preparing our students for a diverse and inclusive world. The office is under the umbrella of the University Communications and Marketing division at UW-Stevens Point.

Compensation:

$40,000, minimum, based on qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience working with detail-oriented projects and/or customer service

  • Demonstrated administrative skills including attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated ability in providing excellent customer service to diverse populations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong computer and data entry skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military service and/or experience with military benefits administration (both federal and state)

  • Demonstrated initiative and experience in advocating and supporting military students and families

  • Experience working in higher education in veterans services, financial aid, or other student services
