Summary
This work involves responsibility for planning and implementing the recreational program for detainees in the detention center. Incumbents must create and develop innovative recreational activities for the detainees in the detention center. Work also involves evaluating and making constructive adjustments in existing recreational activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following examples are intended only as illustrations of various types of work performed in positions allocated to this occupational class. No attempt is made to be exhaustive; related similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned.
Coaches and instructs teams in athletic events and supervises indoor and outdoor games.
Plans group entertainment, such as pageants, talent shows, dramatics, and special holiday activities.
Works with special groups of detainees.
Operates movie equipment and cares for recreational equipment.
Makes careful observation of recreational programs and activities for detainees and keeps necessary records.
Provides reports on programs outcomes.
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Recreation, Physical Education, or a directly related field with three (3) years of professional experience related to the described duties.
OR
A high school diploma and seven (7) years of professional experience related to the described duties.
