The Office of Philanthropy + Engagement invites applications for the position of Philanthropy + Engagement Fellow. The OPEF will work with all members of the office, creating new initiatives with Wofford’s GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Alumni. The fellowship is a one year appointment, renewable for another year and provides an opportunity to advance into a professional staff role based on performance.
The OP+E Fellow is a full -time, on-campus position, working 37.5 hours/week with regular office hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. Some evenings and weekends may be required. The position is focused on engaging, building relationships, networking and soliciting Wofford graduates of the last decade. The position will report directly to the Associate Vice President of the Philanthropy and Engagement but will have significant responsibilities and interactions with all members of the office.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree (preferably from Wofford or a similar liberal arts institution), excellent problem-solving skills, written and oral communication skills, and keen attention to detail. A collaborative approach to work, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build collaborations with diverse communities are essential. A demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and professional development and the ability to prioritize and follow through to meet project deadlines are required.
Alumni Engagement
Institute a first year “Zero” reunion opportunity at a reduced cost
Create a GOLD weekend opportunity (2027)
Work with OMC to create a Young Alumni Newsletter
Survey GOLD alumni to learn more about communication and engagement preferences
Establish monthly engagement opportunities on campus
Create a GOLD advisory board or GOLD class chairs to help communicate, locate and solicit young alumni more appropriately
Student Engagement, Philanthropic Education, Solicitation and Stewardship
Provide opportunities for students to learn about the impact of philanthropy on their experience as a student
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Annual Giving, lead the senior class gift campaign
Institute a “Welcome to the City” gathering in conjunction with the Summer City Tour to give new graduates in the area access to the regional club leaders and key contacts in the area.
GOLD Giving
Create one targeted campaign for the GOLD population
Visit 25+ young alumni identified as prospects for new or increased giving
Effectively target GOLD alumni during special events such as A Day for Wofford and the Excellence Games
Execute a reunion giving plan for the 5th and 10th reunion classes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree completed within the past 1-2 years
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse student populations
Proficiency with social media platforms and digital content creation
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively across departments
Professional Development
This fellowship provides mentorship, professional training, and the opportunity to develop skills useful in a variety of career paths.
