The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for managing the full-cycle credentialing process for clinical professionals across a variety of direct clients and MSP relationships in all 50 states. This role ensures that every healthcare professional meets client, regulatory, and accreditation requirements prior to their start date, supporting timely placements while upholding the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
Working as part of a collaborative credentialing and compliance team, the Credentialing Specialist coordinates closely with recruitment, client services, and support teams to deliver exceptional service to both internal and external partners. The role requires strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage overlapping, high-priority deadlines in a fast-paced staffing environment.
What you'll do:
Manage credentialing for new hires, extensions, and rehires for assigned clients, ensuring compliance with client, company, and Joint Commission standards.
Complete end-to-end credentialing tasks including (but not limited to):
License and primary source verifications
Background checks
Education verifications
Employment verifications
Occupational health compliance
Drug testing
Skills checklists and competency testing
Learn and become proficient with multiple background screening and occupational health/lab vendors to process requirements quickly and accurately.
Upload and maintain documentation in both the agency’s ATS and client VMS systems (e.g., Shiftwise, Lotus Connect, Magnit).
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned client processes, learning and adhering to their unique credentialing requirements.
Communicate professionally and effectively with healthcare professionals, recruiters, client representatives, and MSP contacts to ensure timely file completion.
Coordinate with internal teams to resolve credentialing barriers and expedite urgent or crisis “quick start” placements.
Maintain accurate and organized electronic files in accordance with Joint Commission and internal policies.
Manage a workload of approximately 18–22 active clinicians at any given time, adjusting to seasonal and crisis-related fluctuations.
Consistently meet or exceed team KPIs including turnaround time, time to initiate, and on-time starts.
Maintain compliance-ready files at all times to ensure success in internal audits, client audits, and Joint Commission surveys.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience in end-to-end, primary source credentialing within healthcare staffing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with multiple stakeholders.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).
Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple systems, including background screening platforms and occupational health/lab vendor portals.
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of end-to-end healthcare credentialing experience.
Experience working with MSPs and VMS platforms (e.g., Shiftwise, Lotus Connect, Magnit).
Familiarity with Bullhorn ATS.
Compensation:
The expected base salary range for this position is $45,000 to $50,000 annually. The final compensation offered will be determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
