Provides administrative and clinical support to the Optometrist providers under the direction of the Clinic Manager.

Salary begins at $20.05+ per hour depending on experience.

Essential Functions of the Job: [Other duties may be assigned.] 

  • Answers patient telephone calls, schedules appointments/referrals. 

  • Verifies and records patient insurance information 

  • Creates a welcoming environment for patients and visitors by greeting them when they enter our clinic. 

  • Prepares patient for vision examination; assists in testing for near and far acuity, depth perception, macula integrity, color perception, and visual field, utilizing ocular testing apparatus. 

  • Instructs patients in care and use of glasses or contact lenses. 

  • Assists patients in frame selection, adjusts and repairs glasses and modifies contact lenses. 

  • Checks in glasses for accuracy, completeness, defectsNotifies the patient when glasses are in. 

  • Notifies providers and patients of order delays or concerns. 

  • Maintains inventory of materials and cleans instruments. 

  • Knowledge of payment policy, explains and collects payment from patients. 

  • Maintains records, performs bookkeeping, correspondence and filing. 

  • Participate in training regarding Customer Service, HIPAA, Business Etiquette, Forms, and Department Flows and ensure compliance in day to day operations. 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 

  • Certificate of completion from The American Optometric Association or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
