Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an outstanding individual who will be a valuable team member of our Elkmont Hatchery Lab team to fill the role of Lab Technician. The goal of this position is to aide in the operation of the hatchery lab and mix vaccines

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Measure, mix and prepare vaccines according to standardized procedures.
• Maintain inventory of vaccines.
• Receive and evaluate vaccines for quality according to standardized procedures.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized work area and tools.
• Maintain vaccine and test records.
• Collect lab samples.
• Follow company policy and meet or exceed established procedures regarding bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO, strain security, harassment and discrimination, drug and alcohol, and email/internet policy.
• Attendance is expected and required during the assigned working schedule determined by the supervisor or manager.

Job Qualification

• Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required
• Must be a Self-Motivator with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency
• Good communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills
• Team oriented
• Valid driver’s license
• Be proficient with computer, including Microsoft Excel and Word
• Analytical approach to problem solving
• Technical skills to include laboratory diagnostics
• Report writing skills
• Effective time management and ability to prioritize objectives
• Must be self-motivated with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency
• Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually
• Some travel may be required
